The medical examination is a requirement of the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) to ensure that drivers maintain the physical, sensory and mental capacities necessary to drive safely. How Long Does it Take to Do the Driver’s Medical Examination?
One of the most frequent questions we are asked in the clinic is: “how long will it take?” The good news is that the process is fast, without waiting and very structured.
Total Estimated Time: between 20 and 30 Minutes

What Documentation Do You Need to Bring?

When should You Do the Medical Examination?

When is the Ideal Time to Do it?
Ideally, the medical examination should be carried out between 3 months and 1 month before the expiry date of the license.
This allows you to:

- Have leeway if any medical or administrative incident arises
- Renew without losing days of validity of the new license (the renewal is added to the end of the current period)
